This tool is based on the work of a previous FHWA project in which a document entitled Guidelines for TMC TMOT Staff Development was developed. The document has been updated and revised for TMCOps, and is now referred to as TMC Operator Requirements and Position Descriptions. Twelve sample position descriptions that were used in the earlier project are contained in the Selected TMC Position Descriptions document. Both of these documents are available for browsing or downloading below.
For each document, two links are provided. Click the "Browse..." link to view a document as a series of pages in your Web browser. Click the "Download..." link to view the document as a PDF file, or right click that link and select the "Save As..." command from the popup menu to save a copy of the document to your computer for offline viewing.
To view the PDF files, you must have Adobe Reader installed on your computer. Click on the "Get Adobe Reader" graphic below to open the Adobe Web site in a new browser window, and follow the instructions on that Web site to obtain the Adobe Reader.
The TMC Operator Requirements and Position Descriptions document combines new research into TMC staffing requirements with existing practices in the United States to create comprehensive guidelines for developing the operations personnel position descriptions needed to properly staff a TMC.
