Account Management

This page explains how to create a user account, log in to TMCOps, change your password, and log out of TMCOps. You can access the full functionality of the tool without creating an account and logging in; an account is only necessary if you wish to save your work to use again at a later time. When you save your work, your inputs are stored as a profile. For more information on profiles, see the help page on profile management.

Create an Account

To create a new user account, click on the Log In button on the left navigation bar. Then select the link for "Create a new user account". You will be prompted to type a username and a password. The password must also be typed identically a second time for verification. There is no restriction on username length, but usernames must include at least one non-whitespace character. Passwords must be at least six characters long, may only include alphanumeric characters, and are case sensitive. After you press Submit, you are automatically logged in.

Error messages you may encounter when creating an account include the following:

  • Username is invalid. Usernames must contain at least one non-whitespace character.

  • Username already exists. Please select a different username.

If you receive this message, the username you are trying to create already exists in the system. If you created the username previously, return to the Log In page and type the username and password; otherwise, select a different username.

  • Password is invalid. Passwords must be at least six characters long and may only include alphanumeric characters.

Symbols (characters such as ~, #, %, &, and *), underscores, and spaces are not allowed in passwords.

  • Passwords do not match. The password must be the same in both fields.

When you are not logged in to TMCOps, the message "Not Logged In" appears in the left navigation bar. To log in, click on the Log In button on the left navigation bar. Enter your username and password and press Submit.

Error messages you may encounter when logging in include the following:

  • The username you entered does not exist. Re-enter your username and password.

  • The password you entered is incorrect. Re-enter your password.

Remember that passwords are case sensitive. If you forget your password, e-mail the Webmaster by clicking the Contact the Webmaster link that appears at the bottom of each page. The Webmaster will manually set a new password for your account and e-mail the new password to you.

Once you have logged in, the left navigation bar shows "Logged In As: [account name]". When you are logged in, you can change your password and work with the profiles saved in your account.

Change Password

You must be logged in to your account to change your password. To change your password, click on the Change Password button in the left navigation bar. Enter the current password for your account, and then type the desired new password. The new password must be typed identically a second time for verification. Passwords must be at least six characters long, may only include alphanumeric characters, and are case sensitive.

Error messages you may encounter when changing your password include the following:

  • The current password you entered is incorrect. Re-enter your current and new passwords.

  • New password is invalid. Passwords must be at least six characters long and may only include alphanumeric characters.

  • New passwords do not match. The password must be the same in both fields.

Log Out

To log out of TMCOps, click the Log Out button on the left navigation bar. You will be asked if you want to save your interactive dialog data before logging out. If you click the "Save and Log Out" button, your data will be saved to the current profile (if a profile is loaded), or you will be taken to the Save As screen (if no profile is loaded). If you click the "Log Out Without Saving" button, you will be logged out without saving your data. In either case, you will return to the previous screen, and your inputs will still be reflected in the dialog pages. If you want to return to the previous screen without logging out, click the "Cancel" button.
