Profiles are the mechanism by which TMCOps allows you to save your interactive dialog inputs for later use. When you save your data to a profile, all of your inputs from both the full dialog and the streamlined dialog are stored, including
Each profile is associated with a user account, so you must have be logged into a user account in order to save a profile. If you try to save a profile without having first logged into an account, you will be prompted to log in (with the option of creating a new user account first). Profiles are stored in a secure database on the TMCOps server, so they can only be accessed by logging into the user account that was used to save the profile originally. Each user account can have an unlimited number of profiles associated with it.
You can save your interactive dialog inputs at any time by clicking on the Save button on the left navigation bar. The profile that is currently open, if any, is always displayed on the left navigation bar. If a profile is open, your inputs will be saved to that profile. If you want to save your inputs to a different profile, click on the Save As button and you will be able to select a different profile to save to, or create a new profile to save to. If you click on the Save button with no profile open, you will be prompted to select or create a profile. See the Using the Save As Page help page for more information about the Save As function.
When you save a profile, you may be redirected to the "Profile Has Changed" warning page. This page is displayed when you try to save a profile that has been saved in a different session, either since you opened the profile or since the last time you saved the profile in the current session. This situation may occur if another user, working on the same profile you are working on, saves the profile. This situation may also occur if you have the same profile open in multiple browser windows at the same time, save the profile from one browser window, and subsequently try to save the profile from another browser window. The "Profile Has Changed" warning page gives you the option to go ahead and save the profile, overwriting whatever data is currently saved in that profile, or to save the profile with a different name. You can also cancel and return to the previous page without saving.
Your inputs will be stored in memory only as long as your browser window remains open. In order to save your changes to permanent storage, you must save them to a profile by clicking Save or Save As. As you work through the interactive dialog, it is a good idea to periodically save your inputs to safeguard against data loss in case you accidentally close your browser window. Furthermore, if you leave your browser window open for 24 hours after your last interactive dialog input, inputs that have not been saved to permanent storage will expire and will be lost.
The Profile Management page allows you to create, delete, rename, and open profiles. You can only access the Profile Management page when you are logged in.
To create a new profile on the Profile Management page, type the name of the profile into the text field and click the Submit button. When a profile is first created in this way, it contains no data. Data will be written into the profile the first time you save it. Each profile must have a unique name; otherwise, you will receive the following error message:
Profile names must contain at least one non-whitespace character. If you enter a profile name that, for example, contains only spaces, you will receive the following error message:
To open a profile, select the profile name from the profile list and click the Open button. Caution: When you open a profile, any unsaved interactive dialog data will be lost.
To delete a profile, select the profile name from the profile list and click the Delete button. You will be asked to confirm that you really want to delete the profile before it is permanently deleted.
To rename a profile, select the profile name from the profile list and click the Rename button. The name of the profile appears in the text field. If the profile name is unchanged, the input is silently accepted. If the edited name is invalid or identical to an existing profile, you will receive one of the following messages:
To create a duplicate copy of a profile, open the profile, then click on Save As and save the profile under a different name. The new profile will be identical to the original profile.
As stated above, a particular profile is available in only one user account. If you want to copy a profile to a second user account, you can do so by logging into account A, opening the profile, logging out of account A (which leaves the data from the profile stored in memory), logging into account B, and clicking on Save As to save the data into a profile associated with account B.
