Searching

The search tool allows you to search the TMCOps site for all instances of a word, a set of words, or a phrase. All of the pages in the site are searched with the exception of the pages in the interactive dialog that accept user inputs or generate user outputs - those pages are dynamically generated upon request based on user inputs, and cannot be searched.

Search Syntax

To perform a basic search, enter a word or words into the text field on the Search page and click the Search button or press the Enter key.

To search for exact phrases, enclose your search string in double quotes: "this is a phrase search". The asterisk (*) may be used as a wildcard at the end of words. A search for tutor* would return pages containing the words "tutor," "tutors," "tutorial," and so forth. The Boolean operators AND, OR, and NOT are accepted; the AND operator is assumed between all search terms by default.

Search Results

If your search returns no results, the message "Your search did not match any documents." will be returned. Otherwise, up to 15 search results will be displayed on each results page. The total number of results is displayed in the blue bar under the text field on the results page.

The search results are numbered, and each result displays the title of a page on which the search term was found, followed by an excerpt of the text from the page containing the search term. The search term is highlighted with a yellow background in each result. To view a page from a search result, simply click on the page title in the search result. To return to the results page, click on the browser’s Back button.

If your search returns multiple pages of results, page navigation controls will appear at the bottom of each results page. The numbers that appear between the Previous and Next buttons are direct links to each results page.
